Legacy Ridge
Just minutes from downtown, Legacy Ridge offers a rich blend of homes, parks, and open spaces.
Located between 26th Avenue North and 44th Avenue North, just west of Scenic Drive, Legacy Ridge is a 280-acre master planned community in North Lethbridge. Green spaces, trails, and viewpoints blend seamlessly with surrounding parks.
The streets recognize history’s trailblazers while interpretive parks educate a new generation on the location’s legacy.
The craftsman style homes reflect the character of the era, and thanks to the efforts of the three award-winning builders – Avonlea Homes, Galko Homes, and Cedar Ridge Quality Homes – the homes here are built with energy efficient building practices, and they’re built to last. Nature’s amenities will grow alongside you, your family, and the community you’re a part of.
Celebrating Trailblazers
In collaboration with the Lethbridge Historical Society, Melcor Developments designed Legacy Ridge to celebrate the area’s women pioneers. Each street is appropriately named after one of these trailblazers, with each converging onto Mildred Dobbs Boulevard.
Legacy Ridge has 43 acres of beautiful green space.
The west side is cradled by the Alexander Wilderness Park, a 255 hectare environmental reserve that offers all sorts of outdoor opportunities. Hike the naturalized trail system that ties into Pavan Park in the north and Peenaquim Park to the south. After that, rest under the shoulders of the coulee cliffs and drink in the Oldman River valley.
To the south, Elma Groves Park welcomes families with a landscaped pond and a playground. Further north in the community, residents can take in a book or share a picnic at Elizabeth McKillop Park. This park features a central pergola and a seating area with commemorative plaques that celebrate pioneer women.
The Community
Melcor further celebrates Lethbridge’s heritage with an interpretative park for the historic Galt mine No.6, a coal mine that was active between 1908 and 1935.
This cornerstone of the community aims to recognize the role the coal industry has played here. Sections of the original mine’s foundation still remain, and have been restored to ensure their legacy. Assisting the preservation of that legacy is the interpretive park’s seating areas, an amphitheater, and photographs depicting coal mining’s relevance to both the community and the City of Lethbridge.
